Hot on the heels of the ever popular drifting phenomena, Gymkhana is fast growing in popularity. A fantastic way to improve, practice and perfect your performance driving skills. It is exhilarating, challenging and hugely addictive.
What is Gymkhana?
Born in Japan, it is a fast and furious drive around a coned course utilising drifting, circuit and rally driving skills. Timed for consistency, Fastest Time of the Day, or simply to compare your individual times as a way of enhancing your performance driving techniques. If you have enjoyed a Car Club day with CAT you will already be aware of the benefits Gymkhana can bring to your skills behind the wheel. Such has been the popularity of our End of Day Gymkhana events, we felt it was time to offer this amazing activity as a standalone day.
This a training activity like no other. The course will be dissected and learnt by you in detail, with coaching in the specific disciplines and techniques needed to achieve a grip limit drive within a target time set by your CAT instructor.
You will receive instruction and coaching in the following techniques:

- Observation skills
- Management, correction & recovery of oversteer
- Management, correction & recovery of understeer
- Throttle control at grip limit
- Grip limit steering techniques
- Grip limit signals
- Optimising a standing start
- Threshold braking
- Corner and circuit dissection
- Controlling the effects of adrenalin!!! (mind management)
- You will receive vehicle dynamics briefings throughout the session to complement your learning.
Do not worry if you fall victim to cone fog! This is a specialist training day. To assist and accelerate your learning curve we dissect each section of the circuit to ensure you have mastered the skills required for each section. You will have ample time to learn the circuit intimately. Here's what you can expect.
What cars will I be driving?
You will drive, spin, slide, understeer, oversteer and drift (but hopefully not at the same time!) 4 CAT vehicles throughout the session, with time allocated for a short session in your own vehicle should you wish to.
- CAT Drift Caterham
- CAT Race Caterham
- CAT 5.7 litre Monaro
- CAT track prepared Subaru Impreza
