Recovering a vehicle from a skid is for most of us a skill we need to be coached in. We have all experienced icy roads and winter driving conditions, the summer brings its own challenges sudden showers after a dry period can challenge new and experienced drivers as the oil and rubber ground into the tarmac rises to the surface, leaving a greasy slippery film.

As through our driving career we receive no compulsory formal training relating to the control of a vehicle beyond its limit of adhesion with the road, it is no surprise to learn that a large percentage of accidents are accredited to a loss of control of the vehicle.

CAT Driver Training offer Skid identification and control courses, using the latest Swedish Skid Car technology, fitted to current model Vauxhall Astra and Monaro. Designed and built by Cedergrens the inventor of the skid car. The system makes it possible to experience and therefore train on a wide variety of different road conditions all year round.

But let’s not stop there. The modern vehicle offers a variety of potentially life saving active aids, helping to keep you on the road in life threatening situations. ESP, TC and ABS are there to help you, how do they work? Have you ever had the opportunity to experience a car at its limit of adhesion and feel these active aids working? CAT Driver Training will take you step by step through the abbreviated world of driver aids, and as importantly how to drive safely without the need for their intervention.

All of our Skid Identification and Control courses are complemented with vehicle dynamics presentations including necessary information on tyres, suspension, steering and brakes. Delivered by CAT instructors, all of whom are officially trained by Skid Car UK, the official agents for Skid Car in the UK.

Our course are bespoke, built and designed around your individual needs and objectives. We can incorporate a skid car session within our Corporate days, fleet training and Car Club packages.
